Running GNU/Linux on a Sony VAIO PCG-FX805 laptop
I wrote this page in order to help people who own a laptop from the FX8xx serie to get rid of the preinstalled Windows XP.
Installing and using Linux
My first try with Linux was in 1998 with Redhat 5.1. Followed versions of Mandrake (5.x to 6.x) and then Slackware 9.x and 10.x. I find this operating system a nice alternative to MS-Windows, and as a matter of fact I regularly switch between them depending on the projects I’m working on.
