Janis Joplin fan site

More than a pure technical creation, it was created anyway using Macromedia Studio MX, this website was an exercice in creating user interfaces (a website here) using good design principles. The website is available to visit right now, and comes along with a couple of discussions about its user audience and other design considerations.

Online website

The Janis Joplin was published on Internet and is still available. Have a look at it and judge by yourself the quality of the work. It’s worth visiting it first if you are interrested in reading further discussions.

Introduction

This page describes the context in which the Janis Joplin website was developed. It also briefly covers the technical aspects and tools used.

User discussion

This page is a discussion about the target audience of the Janis Joplin website. It tries to identify the typical user, and analyse his cultural background, content expectations, technical level of knowledge and so on.

Design discussion

This page adresses every concerns about the design part, such as the navigability, the pages layout, end users configurations issues, choices of colours and fonts, user interactions, apprenticeship, (human) memory needs etc. It comes out with an interresting discussion (and proposed solution) to adress sound introduction.

Evaluation criterias

This is set of criterias that I was given to evaluate my website in regards with user interfaces concerns, and its agreement with general guidelines. Of course every points are assessed against my website.
