User guide

Everything you need to know, illustrated, to efficiently use BurningCD.

Step 1

A playlist ready to be burnt
A playlist ready to be burnt

The first step consists of building a playlist of mp3 (and mp2 or wav). Sort it now in the order you wish the tracks to be burnt.

Step 2

To burn, open the main Winamp menu
To burn, open the main Winamp menu

In the Winamp main menu (right clic on its main window), click “Burn the playlist”.

Step 3

Here’s the content of the CD you’re going to create
Here’s the content of the CD you’re going to create

Here is your future audio CD, exactly as it’ll be burnt. Some files from your playlist may have disappeared as BurningCD can only deal with mp3, mp2 and wav file types in CD quality (meaning 44Khz stereo).

This window also offers some extra information, such as the total length of the CD, the CDR-drive and speed used as well as the hard-drive used to store temporary files.

You can right now insert a blank CD-R or CD-RW in the CDR-drive. Please make sure your CD-R is of the proper length (eg 74 or 80 minutes). BurningCD can use the overburn technic, but please notice this is a risky method.

Note: if this CD isn’t appropriate to you, you can hit the “Cancel”, modify the playlist and restart BurningCD.

Step 3Bis

There’s no CDR in the drive...
There’s no CDR in the drive...

BurningCD do check if a CD-R was inserted, and if it is, that its length is acceptable. If there’s no burnable CD, or the CD duration is to short, BurningCD will prompt an alert window.

Step 4

Uncompressing an mp3...
Uncompressing an mp3...

From here, the entire burning process is autonomous, meaning you don’t need to do anything more.

For each track, BurningCD will decompress Mp3s and Mp2s into Wav files, on the temporary hard-drive.

Step 4Bis

In case of problem while uncompressing, BurningCD will advise you something is going wrong.

Step 5

After having uncompressed an audio file, BurningCD will burn it.

Step 5Bis

If some problem happens while burning, BurningCD will prompt you.

Step 6

BurningCD now finalise the audio CD, meaning it makes it possible to read in a standard Hi-Fi equipment.

Step 7

The burning process was successful!

Congratulations! You’ve just burnt your first audio CD.

What about the options?

With the default settings, BurningCD is able to turn a playlist into a genuine audio CD. However, some advanced users may wish to modify some things: the CD-R drive, the temporary drive, suppressing the 2 seconds gap between tracks, etc. For this purposes, please check out the options.

Stay tuned!
