My band BCG

Meeting point with a group of friends. Two guitarists, a pianist and a drum player and that’s the beginning of a two years adventure. Overview of the band.

Genesis

BCG is the shortcut for Boss, Ciol and Gutenberg, the three formers nicknames of the band. For english readers, it can be noticed that the band’s name is litterally the name of the tuberculosis vaccine in France.

At the beginning, BCG was a delirium between two friends. Boss, who wrote the text of the Souvenir song, and me accompanying him with a guitar. At the same time I gave some basics of guitar playing to Ciol, and we were then trying to play something “listenable”.

A couple of month later, I change of comprehensive school. This was an opportunity to meet new key people. We first play within the municipal fanfare, before ending by the “real” creation of the BCG band, without Boss (unmanageable...).

We played on a weekly basis for two years, composing our own songs in a unique music style... Then came the time to go to the university for some of us, which concluded the history of the band. Before separating, we released our first album.

Members

BCG was composed of five members.

The band together

From left to right:

- Loic C., alias Ciol, beginner solist guitarist. Sometimes he was even playing in phasis with us!

- Michael Facquet, alias Gutenberg, alias me!, rythmic guitarist. Simple things, but well executed.

- Emmanuel M., alias BigStar (that’s the price when you always show off smiley), unenthusiastic drum player. He was also the only real musician.

- Jerome B., alias -20 balles (minus 2 pounds), our technician and unique fan. Was able to find everything for nothing!

- Adrien B., alias MonDoudou, muleheaded keyboard player.

Nowadays

BCG no longer exists. So here are some news about the members:

- Loic C. has become a good guitarist. He formed another band Slam after BCG, now discontinued, and then nowadays is playing inside Banshee, a melodic metal local band who begins to be famous in France. He’s also the organiser of a metal festival called Au coeur du Métal.

- Emmanuel M. stills studying drums and percussions. He joined another band in Le Havre which I don’t know the name.

- Jerome B. left us in late 2001 in a tragic car accident.

- Adrien B., Jerome’s brother, hasn’t joined another band. He stills play for the Protestant church however.

Stay tuned!
