Téléthon performance

How much tension we had for our "first" serious public performance! It was on a rainy day of the end of year 99 in a norman town. It’s even better when we think we were the only band playing for this national charity event.

The charity

Evreux, Normandy, France. The entire country gets ready for a major two days event: the Téléthon 99, a major charity acting for medical research to fight handicaps. In Evreux, quite few people got seriously involved for this cause, and so we were warmfully welcomed to perform a musical animation.

Although there was a bad weather, people tried to shelter on something in order to listening to us. Thanks for their bravery!

Equipment troubles

Any musician/band can tell it: there are always last minute’s problems with equipment. You can prepare your instrument a long time in advance, you can run a hundred tests, a problem will always happen! However I must admit we were champion in this field: no amplifier.

Yes, you read it: no amplifier. This can be a problem with electric guitars, isn’t it? What a pity... For the story, we were promised already installed amplifiers before performing. Unfortunatly, they weren’t there we we came! I cheersfully thank the guy [1] who lent us his guitar amplifier, our saver! The good point was he was living very next to the stage so that we got it quicky, the bad points were that the amplifier was everything but powerful, and that pluging two guitars on it isn’t such a great idea!

And the performance itself?

We were cold, it was raining. We couldn’t hear ourselves. But we play. And not so badly according to people we talked to after. We had approximatively five or six titles prepared, and they were nicely welcome.

This date hadn’t been the first nor the last one, however this is the only one I still have some photos of! I also played a dozen times as an individual musician, and then as a member of a municipal fanfare.

Footnotes

[1] The guy who kindly lent us his amplifier is named Yann, and is now the bass player of the new band of my solist guitarist. The world is small!

Stay tuned!
